The roots of Bartók‘s compositional thinking, to which rhythm is immanent, go back to his childhood: a little drum was his first favourite toy. This tendency to search for the percussive power of instruments remained a constant throughout his life and defined his artistic path, as his “Music for String Instruments, Percussion and Celesta” proves.
Not only did Alfred Brendel have a highly successful pianistic career, but his students have also become prominent performers: Mari Kodama, Till Fellner and Paul Lewis will enchant listeners on this evening in a concerto with an extraordinary cast: Mozart’s “Lodron” Piano Concerto for three pianos.
